To buy the new Langrisser game or not to...

Man, I have been holding out to buy Shovel Knight until it made it's way into a humble bundle or something like that, but it's price is surprisingly resilient.

Maybe I should just buy it now on 3DS and play the damn thing.

There's a 33% discount on Steam at the moment, if that's any use.

Thanks, I had gotten the e-mail from Steam that a wishlist item was on sale.

It wasn't actually yet on sale on the EU Eshop last I checked (2 days ago?) but I saw on my news feeds that it is also on sale on the US Eshop AS well as Steam etc.

That's a little suspicious that it's on sale everywhere. I think the last time I saw that was Skullgirls, right before it went into a humble bundle. I might chance just not buying it and seeing if I can get it with some other games for free later.

Although the primary (and significant) advantage of buying it on 3DS is that I'll definitely play and beat it, rather than hoarding it for later with all my damn steam games.

This is a gorgeous Sonic inspired platformer game that was announced a good while ago now but is in playable form at PAX East. If it plays as well as it looks I'll be buying this on Wii U.

Thanks for always posting these Sligeach.

Have you got a direct link to the NOE PR source you use to pull this info from?

I've messaged Nintendo UK before to ask what their RSS feed is, because they have a section on their website explaining:

    - what an rss feed is
    - what a feed reader is
    - how to add a feed to a feed reader

But not the actual feed itself(!!), which I thought was just a simple oversight, but when I messaged their customer support, my query was escalated to superiors a number of times over the course of weeks, before I finally got a reply of

"We have no official announcements regarding your query at this time."

At that point I just gave up any hope of being able to pull any sort of useful info directly from NUK.

No, I just take the information from whichever site has the info first. I was late in posting it today. I don't think they give the information out to Joe Public, I think you've to be an accredited site to be sent the PR.

Christ that's a pain. It's good of you to post the info.

I like getting stuff from primary sources as much as possible. I'm subscribed to Nintendo of America's RSS feed, mostly just because they have one, and hopefully the deals are similar across regions (Tip: They never are).

It's bizarre to me that NOE don't post this stuff themselves, and just leave it to third parties to disseminate their info for them.

Yeah, cheers Sligeach, fair play to you.

They remembered Europe this time. Typing on a phone is such a pain.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,258 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

And best get In early if going for the average tier. It's pretty high now probably due to most buying Darksiders and Street Fighter.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,312 ✭✭✭druss

That is amazing. Straight in at the top level and downloading already.

I own Shantae and Affordable on Wii U, but presume I can't gift them?

It occurred to me that the new account system should make a Humble Bundle unavoidable in EU in future.

I don't get how this works. What do I need to do?

Which tier do you want? Presume you'd have them all anyway!

I paid 13 dollars for the lot. I have a humble account already for PC games. After purchase you can click through and redeem games online via Nintendo account. Or type in the codes if you're so minded. Theme has to be added on 3ds..

I'm missing Affordable Space Adventures and Freedom Planet. I hear that if you pay for top tier that you also get the games that are coming in the wave next week.

No. You have to beat the average price..currently 9.58 dollars.

"How do I unlock more games/add to my current order/”beat the average”?

In order to unlock the second tier of content in a bundle, you must beat the average price. This means paying a minimum of $0.01 more than the listed average price."

So if you don't need Street Fighter and Darksiders you could just bid 10 dollars ( it's for charity after all!). And you might have the next wave games anyway..

Yeah, basically there are 3 tiers:
Tier 1: $1 or more gets you Shantae and the other 2 games
Tier 2: Pay the average or above will get you Freedom Planet, Rhythm Thief, Citizens and the ones still to be revealed, plus the games in Tier 1.
Tier 3: $13 or more will get you all games.

I was still updating it. I just can't get over how Nintendo expect people to pay €20 for Mario Strikers Charged Football when you can easily buy it for less than €5. This is what I talk about when I say Nintendo are greedy and stingy.

Do the Wii emulated games have online support? Far as I remember M-Strikers Charged was the first Wii game with Online, and that was about the only reason to play it.
