Audi S3 2001/2002 Model

Hey all,

First time poster in this forum, thinkin about buying one of these but dont know a huge a pile about them, have driven a few alright but would like to find out if anyone here has any experience with them and whether they are good/bad/indifferent and what are the pitfalls etc. any information would be gratefully accepted!!

Was interested in one of these myself about 2 years ago, can only get them in the UK, they have loads of extra's,
try to get one that hasn't been butchered/Chipped by boyracers!

Look out for Recaro Black Nappa Leather electric seats and sunroof as optional extra's.

Personally i wasn't too sure about the 1.8T engine being able to coupe with 220ish BHP Especially the turbo.

Nice car, pity it doesn't come in 5 door version (which was the reason i didn't buy in the end) But this was a personal thing and might not be an issue for you.

This is what I know about s3's.

Early model s3's were 210bhp, later models were 225bhp. All are 4wd quattro and have electric recaro seats as standard, some are full leather and some are leather/alcantara.
As for the 1.8t enging being able for 200+bhp, thay can handle up to 340bhp on standard internals, any higher will need upgraded conrods. All engines used forged pistons as standard so are well up for the job. There are a few in the uk with 400+bhp.

MTM do a big turbo conversion for the engine which brings power up to around 330-340 bhp and is 100% reliable.
A simple remap will see around 260bhp.

Coil packs were an issue but should have been replaced as there was a recall by audi, airflow sensors can be tempermental also.
Other then that I think they are fairly reliable.

If I were getting one I would head to the UK, far better choice.
