Todays Thread Of The Day is the exciting: Oil heating Boiler?

Is there really a need for the Thread Of The Day link? It just pics random threads that generally aren't that exciting. If it maybe picked the most active thread of the dat, then that would make more sense, but at the moment, it confuses and angers me.

aye, i remember being able to read all the boards here in the old days, post in feedback and still have tuppence ha'penny to rent out a high class hooker with.

'course in those days he was Cassius Clay and Boards was in black and white.

I think 'thread of the day' arose out of a feedback thread asking for a 'random thread' button. Again, I quite like it.

The great thing about the thread of the day is that it can bring you to forums you would otherwise ignore

As long as its not causing problems or contributing heavily towards the slowdown periods, I could care less.

Thread Of The Day. Do we not need it?

i.e. what advantage would come of getting rid of it?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10,730 ✭✭✭✭simu

Thread of the day is no mere appendix!

Well if you get rid of it you could fit a set of high-rise apartments and a chipper.

How about if the thread of the day was set to the one that either has gotten the most views, or has gotten the highest feedback for the day? There'd probably have to be a bit of logic to put in though, so the same stickies / favourite threads aren't selected every day.
