Well despite my best efforts I cannot get an appointment with my local inspector who is acting up, and he refuses to acknowledge my phone calls.
So I am left with my only choice being the legal route to obtain my certificate.

    Having said all that:

Is anyone aware of the names of solicitors who have appeared in court on behalf of appellants with regard to firearm certificates.
Earlier today I did speak briefly with one "great questionable legal mind" he was reluctant to advise as to costs of such an appeal, and was openly stated that his firm would be somewhat reticent to appear before the courts in such a case.

You could try contacting Des Crofton.......he should be able to steer you in the right direction, solicitor wise ;) .

These guys are a law unto themselves. Ask him how many people ended up in hospital from the guys they got out on bail.... And what the cost to the taxpayer is.
    Ahh off topic!:)

If I were you I would sit tight for a little while, the inspector may come around in a few weeks. Use club guns in the meantime, nothing like having your own but way better than nothing.

But I have no experience in these matters....can only wish ya the best.

Now this is where you find out wether your solicitor is a solicitor or a mouse.
Most when it comes to the crunch wot want to upset the cart and annoy the Gardai. After all, they might need the local Gaurds cooperation to get the local drug dealer out on police bail who will pay more than you will in cash,on a Sat night.
Sooo get a solicitor who is[1] young and hungry or [2]deals with criminal cases and has a grip on firearms law or [3] [like I did] find a high profile solicitor who is absolutely ruthless and will not give two hoots about Garda senseibilities.Might cost abit more but well worth it if the guy/gal knows the law and will kick butt on your behalf.Try the law society for a specialist in this field.
    Go get em.:) :):)

You might consider, as a first step, informing the local Inspector that you intend to make a formal complaint about him throught he Garda complaints process. It would seem that he is breaching their own Charter and procedures for delaing with the public. A complaint will stay on his record so he may be motivated to talk to you in roder to avoid such a situation.

The alternative is to go legal but while all the legal wrangling is going on you will still not have your FAC. Make it a last resort.
