    Hi,
I have bricked my 2.80 psp by attempting to downgrade to 1.5

I have been told only way to fix is to either
    1) replace motherboard
    2) add the ultimate platinum mod-chip

But - does anyone know of anyone in Dublin who can do the 2nd above?
I have not bought the mod-chip yet as I do not want to get landed with a piece of hardware I cannot install.

    Thanks

very rare to see someone brick these days.

anyway, i'm almost sure chipping hardware is illegal, and probably not exactly right to discuss here. but either way, see how much a chip costs, then see how much a psp is on ebay. weight it up there... i'd imagine psp's go for a nice enough price these days

Since the warranty is now void I would like to try to recover it somehow. Apologies if I stepped on toes, did not mean to cause offense.

Rare but unfortunately all too possible...

I installed an Undiluted platinum a while back. Its worked fine, BUT Never again!! You need serious magnification and steady hands to do it.

£50 which is about €80, on ebay. There might be cheaper ones there if you have a look around. Might be better off buying a 2nd hand PSP and keep your brick for spares. Installing the mobo might be tricky, but I've never had to do it so I don't know.
