    Hi,

    I have a problem and would greatly appreciate any help anyone can give me. I am currently studying for a degree in Construction Management & Engineering in Waterford Institute of Technology and as part of the course I am required to write a dissertation. My chosen subject is offsite construction and it focuses on Prefabricated, Turnkey properties.

    I am assessing the benefits in relation to time, cost and quality of offsite construction. Despite enquiries to approximately 15 companies I cannot get them to co-operate and put me in contact with former clients so that I can get some feedback from them on what it is like to live in one of these homes. One person said he didnt want me harassing his customers!!! This is obviously not my intention and I did really well on the first part so this is becoming a nightmare.

    Can anyone think of a way for me to get in contact with people who live in these homes. My questionnaire is really simple and would not be too time consuming. Perhaps you live in one or know someone who does. I really need to get some feedback in the next week (before the 28th of February if possible).

    Damo,

    Griffner Coillte have fabricated homes in Mullingar since the 2000 circa.

    They have recently finished a development in Bree in Enniscorthy
    where they ran turnkey projects from inception (design & build).

    If you make your way to Enniscorthy is easy to find, out past the gold course rd head towards Bree and beyoud - local people will be able to direct you there, it caused a stir,(all these houses going up in the woods...!)

    Go Direct to the home owners, I'm sure they wont mind whe you tell them what its about. Being what they are I'd say they would be only too glad to show off their fab investment.

    This was development actually shown in TnaG program last week
    'Teach Glas'.

    Most pre-fabricated manufacturers from what I hear wouldn't want you to speak to their customers, the advantages normally spoken of are sometimes as pre-fabricated as their buildings.
    Do a search for CASPAR Leeds (Guardian ran a story on them earlier this month.
    Go do - Building for a future (Green building bible producers) they've looked at SIPS systems recently also.
    theres also a guy in Fingal CoCo originally from NI - made soem great comments on TF and MMC at a recent timber conference in Dublin.
