Converting a DVD player to Multi-Region

    Hi,

    Just bought a Philips DVD 580HC Home Cinema system and discovered it is only a region 2 player. As most of my DVD's are from the States this is not much good to me. I am a small bit confused as the remote for it has a PAL/NTSC/MULTI button on it but the tv screen reads "Wrong Region" when I try to play a region 1 disc. I could return it to the retail outlet for a refund but I like it and wonder can it be converted? If so,

    Where would I go in Cork to get it done?
    Any idea of the cost?
    Is it a simple case of pushing switches within the player or does it have to have a chip inserted?

    Appreciate any help....

    You can make most DVD players multi region through a series of steps with your remote control

    check out this site http://www.dvd.reviewer.co.uk/info/multiregion/hackable.asp

    If you can't find it there do a simple Google for "Multi Region hack for Philips DVD 580HC and you might be able to find it yourself
