Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi,
i'm just after formatting my PC and can only find my win98 (1st ed) disc.. I have misplaced my SE disc..
My question is can I install the 1st edition of windows 98 now and then upgrade to second edition later..

Whats the official way of upgrading to second edition? Is it like XP SP1 and SP2 etc?? or is it like 2 definate releases both with price tags?

This might be of some use to you. I used it before and it worked quite well at updating the OS. But as far as i remember it was for SE only. Maybe worth a try though!

    [edit]
whats the spec of the PC, outta curiosity?

I found out that if you delete win.com and setupx.dll (backup to floppy just in case) and proceed with your other win98 SE install cd, installation should go fine..
deleting the above files will corrupt your setup so if something goes wrong you can just copy them from the floppy in the DOS prompt..

I must take a better look at that service pack now wollymammoth..thanks..

    Techguy..

EDIT: its an old Dell Dimension, 700mhz about 128mb RAM 40GB... nothing special. It's just for the mother for Office, internet etc..
