    Any help would be appreciated.
It's a dell inspiron510m. There's nothing even trying to start, when the on button is hit, the caps lock light flashes 9 times..but no booth screen, no HD or cdrom noise nothing but that light...

    Any ideas??
    Thanks

Its a motherboard or memory issue.

If you know what you are doing and it wont void you're warantee try reseating the memory, otherwise do what davey said and call Tech Support.

Thankfully it's not mine:-) I'm getting txt after txt with bits of info but it all seems futile to me....Thanks for the replies and anymore that follow. From the googles I've done there seems to be a lot of problems with dell lappy's..

Could be power, the motherboard or ram. Its a problem that can happen on any machine Dell, Sony or Apple tbh. The only thing you can check is the memory.

Everything else you'll have to bring it somewhere.

I had a laptop fail (not a dell) with similar symptoms. Turned out to be the gfx card was blown.
