Mockery Examinations [or mocks] for me. ;)

First time I also saw them referred to as "pres" was here. Still as horrid either way.

Ok I'l put my hands up coz I reckon Im who is being referred to here. I used it in a post today without thinnking and I realised after I hadnt heard anyone else call them "Pres." But Im from west cork and everyone one I know calls them Pres, as it happens I hadnt heard anyone use the word mocks at all before I joined boards. Well you know what they say, Tomayto, tomato

I've seen a fair few call them Pres. Only ever on boards, though. That said, always been Mocks to me. Must just depend on the school. Pres sounds weird... pluralising an abbreviation? (That is, presuming it stands for "Preliminaries"). Sounds a lot like other words, anyway. Like peas or priests or somesuch.

always been "mocks" to me, although ive heard some country folk speak of these so called "pres" :)

the mockingtons. the exams designed to mock your abilities :D lol

Only heard of pres here, plus on the skoool.ie website they have a thing called 'taking stock after the mocks' which probably wouldn't sound as fluent if it were 'taking stock after the pre's' ;)

It's "mocks" for Dublin/surrounding areas, "Pres" for eh....those other areas involving wellies and farms etc.

Right, im gonna try and be as nice as i can here :)

As far as i know there is a thread already on the forum that deals with the art history mock, any questions on it should be put in that thread, this thread is about whether you call the exams 'mocks' or 'pres' and has nothing to do with art history ;)

Your only gonna turn people against you by posting irrelevant posts and lessen your chances of someone responding to your question

every1 calls them mocks. why call them pres??

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 279 ✭✭adam_ccfc

    Pres.

It's basically mocks if you're from Dublin or Meath/Drogheda/any of the other other **** suburbs.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 672 ✭✭✭Pure Cork

It's pres in Cork, and probably the rest of Munster too. As usual, we show the rest how it's meant to be done.

Sorry, I meant to specify! Outside of Cork, I'd regard every county as being a **** Dublin suburb. :p

(just having a laugh, before I get jumped on!)
