BF2 doesn't support widescreen. You can play it no problem but you get those lovely black bars I believe and don't get a larger field of vision.

You can play most games in widescreen.
For BF2 use the command line in BF.exe
    • "C:\Games\Battlefield 2 Demo\BF2.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1440 +szy 900
this site has all the info you'd need.

If you can stretch your budget to ~€330 this monitor got top awards from Custom PC.
It's an amazing monitor for the price.

BF2 doesnt support it out of the box, but you can modify your config to make BF2 play in widescreen. The fact that it doesnt support widescreen shows the developers just couldnt really care anymore.

All games running on Source support widescreen formats (to the best of my knowledge). Or at least all of the ones I play do.

The black bar's dont happen on all monitors. If happens on my laptop here but not on most of the desktop lcd's. Im not exactly sure if its just a setting on the monitor or not.

I would personally advise going for the widescreen. I have both standard 4:3 and Widescreen's here at home and I find the widescreen a joy to use and take it in preferance to the old 4:3 screens.

    i think you can force it widescreen by putting "Battlefield 2142\BF2142.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1440 +szy 900" on your shortcut link.

Ive been reading so many tutorials on how to get it to work at 1440 X 900 and it seems to be a big problem im going order the monitor tomorrow and if it doesn't work ill just set it to 1024 X 768!

Well I've got this and BF2 works flawlessly with forced WS.

Just make sure you add the the same string to all your mod shortcuts too, or POE2 will end up looking $hite.

Other games generally look good too although my monitor won't show black bars, instead it stretches everything so some older titles look odd.
