    Hi,
I am just about to plant to hedge along a fence to the front of my house (see attached pic). I have decided that Laurel is the hedge I want, but my question is what is the best way to plant the hedge.
I would like to grow the hedge with no grass or weeds underneath, but I would also like to avoid the use of artifical ground cover and bark chippings as this will require an edging which won't suit the ride-on mower. If I don't use groundcover can I use weedkiller each year to prevent the start up of weeds and grass (will this effect the laurels?)

    Any suggestions appreciated
