Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I want to dual boot an old comp with Windows Me and Ubuntu. I'm kinda confused about GRUB. Do i have to install it onto the computer after i have installed Ubuntu, or does it come with Ubuntu, meaning that if i were to just install ubuntu and then reboot i would be presented with the GRUB screen asking me what OS i wanted to use.
I downloaded GRUB and its just a file called 'grub-1.95.tar ' and is a GZ file.
How would i use this file after installing ubuntu to dual boot (if thats what you have to do)?

    Thanks

If you're installing Ubuntu from the LiveCD, it will install GRUB itself. You will need to edit /boot/grub/menu.lst if you want to have Windows as the default OS.

i downloaded the iso and put it on a disk, is that the same as the Live CD?
If it installs itself does that mean that a list of available OS's is presented when you turn on the comp?
    Thanks

If the CD boots to a running Linux environment, its called a LiveCD.

Yes, GRUB will present you with a menu of the installed OSes. Ubuntu will have a couple of extra entries, for different start up options (similar to Windows safe mode).
