Buying an apartment in Helsinki

    Hi everybody,

I would appreciate any advice which you can give me about all this....

I'm about to buy an apartment in Helsinki for 180k

I am a first time buyer and I live in Helsinki, but I am Irish.

The thing is, I will be buying this apartment with "cash" - my savings and my parents savings.

I will pay 65k and my parents 115k

The first question I'd like to ask is what is the best way (tax wise) to transfer the money to me? Should they wire it to my Irish bank account, and then I transfer it here to my Finnish bank account?

As far as I know, a parent can gift their child upto almost half a million tax free? Is this true?

    Thanks!!!
