That's what I call a proper webdesigner website from my friend Razor based in the US.

    Resistance is futile.

Its... ok. Doesn't look a whole lot unlike a default Wordpress skin.

Not sure what the links at the right on the Philosophy page under Testimonials are supposed to do. Right now they do nothing.

Quite a bit of "Coming Soon", and the current projects links return 404 pages.

Portfolio links don't work. In fact, lots and lots of links don't work.

Firefox 1.5+. Razor Designs CEO. Hmm, a bit unprofessional.

Narcissus would be proud of whoever did some of the writing. Also, put down the copy of "Buzzwords Omnibus".

Yeah many links do not work (Still in the making) yet but I just love the all layout, really nice.

But it is fully based on HTML/CSS personal code.
There is NO blog engine at all behind that.

So I found the work really interesting and the guy designed some stuffs for me, and they are definitely really nice.

He is 18 years and learned by himself only. So Let's keep an eye on him.

I don't see anything special with it really.

    It doesn't validate either.

    Its not bad though.

I actually don't see the point of this thread tbh. What is it for?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,924 ✭✭✭eamon234

not great tbh - fonts old fashioned and colour scheme a la my Grannys sitting room.

  • Registered Users Posts: 35,524 ✭✭✭✭Gordon

Nice and clean but it really needs a proof reader, there are some awful mistakes that make it obvious a kid has made the site. "Ingenious Innovated Imagination" imo doesn't sit well. If I did that line I'd write 'Ingenuity Innovation Imagination".

Also, if it actually is very css based then there isn't a problem bumping up the jpg quality - the images on the menu are quite compressed, and the brown header image pattern looks a bit muddled due to the repeat vs compression.

I don't mind the colour scheme but imo he should get rid of all the patterns.

The link at the top just brings you to the current page!?!?
Razor Designs only offers flexible packages to meet the needs of all their clients!
Ironically this doesn't sound very flexible!

The FAQs on the services page are strange!
    "What are your computer specifications?"
'What applications to do you use?"
Also, stating that you work for free may come back to bite you!

    On the philosophy page:
Benefits of owning a Razor produced design

    * You've see our work! No I can't!
    * You own a piece of genius work!
    * Member Discounts! For what?
    * If we can't fulfill your request we will send you to an expert in the field. Are you not experts? What about all that Ingenious... stuff?
    * Get tons of traffic and make money! Now you are just taking the piss!

awhh the comfort in that!

Wow, this guy must really think he is a prodigy. The world is now a better place.

talking purely about the visuals - not bad by any means, has a touch of a blog about it I thought. One little thing, the artefacts are visible on the nav links, perhaps they would be better as a gif.

I presume that guy's native language is NOT English, because that is woeful syntax and grammar

    He speaks American lol.

Regarding the website, at first glance I though it was
quite an old layout / '90s type website. Maybe rebump
this thread when it's properly finished...

No no no in the 90' there was Frontpage, with colums and awful colors that's what you meant.
Layout you are talking about does not remind the 90' websites styles, but cosy and confortable interior designs.

We can argue with many things on this website, and I would agree with you, but still this is a really pleasant website, and with some improvements will be very nice and far better than many other website critiques links I have seen so far here.

Just my opinion it looks a bit dated in places. The header is nice
but the likes of the 3colums services, latest project and Philosophy
on the main page look dated to me.

OP, its not a bad little site but you've way over sold it... For an 18 year old guy starting out its not bad but you kicked off the thread on the wrong footing straight away!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,879 ✭✭✭heggie

lol. your co founder of a game company? have you a board of directors? what are you CEO of exactly? It was meant as advice, I think you should work on your attitude 1st, site 2nd.

" How long does it take you to make a website?
    In about 6hrs or less"

    Gotta love it! :D

I've tried finding the websites of all the testimonials on the site and I can't find anything on any of these people. Are they made up? The writing style/mistakes seem to be similar to the author of the site, looks very suspicious.

I have found some of the sites that are on the portfolio page:
    http://www.fallenstargames.com/company.html (looking for a job?)
http://www.gamersreloaded.net/team.html (the site that hosts Razors web-page)

But that's it, nothing else. I've googled and googled and found nothing. I'm starting to believe that this guy hasn't made all the websites he claims he has.

    Gordon,

But he works for a big company, which somehow makes him special, don't you know?
