Thanks, yeah it's hard to get a good estimate of value, especially when prices from various places online & offline can be so hugely different!

    Hi Peanut,

what's it like for viewing planets?
how did you take that photograph of the moon you included in the advert? Would a normal digital camera be able to be mounted or does it require specialist equipment?

    is pictures of planets possible?

    Hi,
I guess it's not bad, although I haven't really been planet hunting for a long time.

Really the photo of the moon is not how you would usually do it!

I mean you need an SLR camera and an adapter for it, I just pointed my camera through the eyepiece as if I was looking through it myself. Sorry, scratch that, you could also use a webcam. If you use a CCD sensor webcam like the Philips Toucam Pro, you can get quite good pics.

The adapters are fairly cheap though, and there are a lot of options, have a look here -

edit: I guess you can also use non-SLR cameras -

Still, I think a webcam would be the most suitable.

edit again: there should be lots of related info in this forum if you do a search for webcam or astrophotography

I will add some of this to the advertisement, thanks.

    Hi Peanut,

I'm quite interested in this telescope (though I know very little about them - Am just trusting the positive input from other posters here).

Anyway, adverts.ie still seems to be out of action. I live in Dunboyne and can call over to Celbridge to have a look this evening or tomorrow if it suits you ??

    Thanks,
    Brian
