Cant seem to find the detail on google but can anybody tell me what the bhp is like on the previous 3 series models 316 & 318i's (2000-2004'ish) models?
They are a heavy enough car Id imagine but just wondered does the engine do them justice....

nobody - it has always existed, even in the dark days before the internet!

You might want to consider getting a 6-cylinder engined one. Much better :)

I would avoid the 316i altogether it only had something like 115bhp from a 1.8/1.9 litre engine.

Better to go for the 318i facelifted E46 from late 2001, this had a 2.0 litre 143bhp engine or save up a little more and get the 320D diesel with 150bhp.

    Ode To The Motorist

“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

Nice car but it's a shame the owner went to the trouble of debadging the car and then highlights it's only a 318 in the number plate.

The 318 was quoted at 143bhp (1 less than the lighter Alfa 156;) ) but that's provided it's the 1.8 engine. Bear in mind that the last two figures do not always relate to the actual engine capacity of a BMW.
