I've finally got myself my first pc of my own.

Just wondering, When looking at speakers, I just want a cheapish set, sub €40. What do I look for in them? Like, Ram is down to speed and mb's. What is Speakers measured in.

Also, Souncards, What do they do? I know they create sound, but is there a "better" sound from a better soundcard?

    :) Thanks

You could probably pick up a decent pair of speakers for around 40.. Mine cost me something like 80 last year... Look for quality made ones like creative etc etc

Its measured in watts im pretty sure!

As for sound cards.. If all you plan on doing is playing music.. stay with on board.. Sound cards only help when playing games I presume

Not much point in measuring speakers in watts it really comes to down to brand quality, I've always found Logitech to be on decent quality like try this 2.1 setup on for size.

Better sound from a sound card yes but it again largely depends on what you buy, Creative tend to offer the best sound output over analogue audio connections to your speakers & some other cards are fairly specialist in nature dealing with digital connections for speakers offering more options than Creative's products.

If you are not too pushed the integrated audio on most current motherboards suffices in most cases.

This is what I would go for in an a very nice 2.1 analogue setup, Logitech Z-2300 THX 2.1 speakers & Creative X-Fi Xtreme Music edition sound card.

The Watts are power/volume more is better for fidelity but that also depends on the signal to noise ratio again bigger dB here is good. There is also the sampling rate which is important for higher end stuff I think. But I'd say its just a matter of how much you want you spend. As 8T8 said there find a good brand and apply money to taste :)
    Thats my 2 cents nway
