Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Vista 64 Bit Ultimate - waste of time?

Was thinking of getting this but am concerned it will be a waste of time in terms of compatibility.

What are peoples perceptions of 64bit computing by now? 32bit still seems to be the most widely installed and supported version of processor at least in the Microsoft non server world.

Not a gamer so not bothered there but would like to have full office capability as well as the possibliyy to play back xvid, divx as well as dvd outside the drm'd to death windows media player. Is this possible in a 64 bit windows os?

afaik there are still a lot of of programs that dont have 64bit compatibility. Some hardware especially Sony have no 64bit drivers at all. http://tinyurl.com/2a626e. From one of the comments here XP 64 drivers will work in Vista but i'm not too confident of this. To check Vista compatibility

Thanks greglo23, that link you posted mentions videolan which I forgot about totally. If that works fine in Vista then my needs probably will be satisfied in the main as my pc is mostly for multimedia and making quality posts on boards *ahem*.

If your just getting it for multimedia stuff (reason i got it) then theres absoultely no point in getting 64bit unless your fond of having problems. I got 32bit home premium and havent had a problem yet with regards to drivers and programs but that would be a totally different story with 64 bit.
