Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

If you have a static IP on your laptop, and all other addresses are assaigned by DHCP, then the DHCP server will skip the address you have assaigned to the laptop when its giving out addresses to new devices.

If you have all your computers on static addresses, then the addresses never change and there is nothing to worry about.

well i only want 2 create the static ip on my own laptop, will the other laptop & computer continue to work fine with thier dynamic ones considering we'll all be using the same router

Like Aidan said, it should work fine if you have one static IP and then the rest assigned dynamically... if it doesn't you could always just change the PC back to dynamic IP addressing without hassle, you're not gonna mess up your network doing that

Does the router not pick up the name of your PC in the port forwarding settings...

i.e. can you not configure it to forward to a computer name, as opposed to an IP?
