I was really stuck which to choose between the 8800 GTS 320 or 640MB im going with the 320 because of my monitor id say it will handle the res!

    Anyways... the games I play are BF2 HL2(series) CS:S CS 1.6 :D

    Here it is:

    Hey,
I'm making up a new rig at the moment aswell what you have there looks good. Thats one hell of a mother board :) I'm going for the same corsair RAM but what CAS Latency does that one have.
Can't find many PSU's down here in the UAE, but I found a Zalman 600HP which looks cool.
XFX are a great brand of GPU aswell getting similar myself, if there are is a XXX after the GTS its better again obviously enough I suppose (more overclocking).
Check which version/generation the Seagate drive is there is noise and power differences between the 7200.9, 7200.10. Leaning towards the older 7200.9 actually less noise and less power requirement.
The price looks good and it'll only go down with time.

Is CL5? Im guessing lower is better? I think I read that somewhere on here

This is true but its a nerdy area, basically more GB's is more important I think but its nice to know what it means anyhow.
    http://www.hardware.info/en-UK/articles/am5nZmpvZA/Memory_modules_buyers_guide/2
is a good article on the issue good site actually has a few guides like that which break down the details into bit size chunks :)
Just did the first round of buying myself a bit tired now (mentally) so much money for a bunch of boxes.

Go for the Western Digital se16 320 gb drive only 10.00 more.
The e6600 will probably drop in price,
and you should probably go for Vista.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,728 ✭✭✭dazftw

Yea im really thinking about vista I duno though still contemplating... it reduces performances in some games... Especially the ones im playing

Im on a budget aswell so depends!

Yea I heard another boards member say to get like cheaper ram but get more cause I wont notice difference in performance!

Yea the the cpu is gone down a good €40 over the past weeks!

Could you not get even faster holiness out of your read-speeds if you use 2x drives and link them using SATA-RAID? The advantage being that each drive mirrors the other; effectively doubling your wow factor...drawback being if one dies the other gets amnesia /=/

    Still....its fast :)

Im trying to get job before I buy this cause if I do I can spend alot more :D

At the moment I have to stick with this stuf because I barely have enough money for it as it is! :D

I have to learn more about raid actually... I know I need two drives anyway... lol do I need some extra pci card to get it going?

Is that motherboard not a bit overkill for what u need? I was looking at the Gigabyte DS-3, its performance is on a par with boards twice its price, or the Asus P5N-E?

Just a thought. The rest of it looks sweet anyway, best of luck.

i would go with overclocker i find them good.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,728 ✭✭✭dazftw

Yea I found them to be good on prices! about €50 euro cheaper than dabs.ie

Im not buying an os though... im just going to sell my parts from my old pc and keep the os from that!

The only thing is I dont have an account with them so I dont know what shipping to Ireland is!

Im getting the lot except the OS for €1,450.17

Can you tell me how much it costs for shipping to Ireland?

At the moment the shipping is £12.95!

    Any ideas?

Thanks for replying a good few times btw :)

    its around 24 pounds.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,504 ✭✭✭✭DirkVoodoo

    komplett and overclockers.

Check prices between the two for each component you pick, you would be surprised to find that even though you incur higher shipping costs, the overall system cost including shipping may be lower.

Overclockers require 3 utilities bills/bank statements as i recall, i had to fax them. Not exactly a deal breaker, but just be prepared for the email requesting em.

I'm building pretty much exactly the same rig as you. The big thing for me about the 680i mobos is they have 3x 16bit pcie slots so the 8800gts cards won't be hamstrung when you go sli.

One thing about the cpu, i've decided to save myself a few yoyos by taking the 6400 instead of the 6600 as all the articles I've read say it will overclock really well and is capable of 6800 extreme speed.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,728 ✭✭✭dazftw

I know ive read articles on that also and like I thought about it then thought I don't really know much about overclocking(at the moment) so I going go with that one so as not to have less power while learning how to do it...

    If that makes sense..

Im contemplating the 6400 now over the 6600 cause I can afford the 640MB version of the GTS that way....
