post office bank drafts, 6 months to get refund

    whats the craic with this? got a letter lost in the post with a postal bank draft, they said i gotta wait 6 months before they send a refund. even thou it wasnt cashed yet, why couldnt they just cancel the cheque and send a refund?

    Postal orders are demand drafts which means that they are the equivalent of cash and will be accepted as guaranteed form of payment from the bearer. They are valid for 6 months from date of issue and so they can't issue a refund on the draft until the original expires.
