Trams on the red line will begin at 06.30am on St. Patrick's day and run until 00.30am.

During the hours of 11am- 2pm there will be a return service every seven minutes from Tallaght to
Smithfield (meaning while the City parade is in operation trams wont be running normally to Connolly station) a tram will run every thirty minutes from Smithfield to Jervis mainly for passengers who have mobility impairment.

Green line services should not be disrupted.

Now since it`s still 4 days away I reckon this is as good a time as any to draw some attention to.........

With the closure of O Connell St for the Parade/Pageant or whatever the time-honoured diversion for the oul buses will presumably be via Gardiner St.

    Ok so far ?

Now this means a VERY large increase in the amount of Bus Routes and general traffic trundling along the street especially westbound...

In recognition of this increased traffic volume will Dublin City Council or the Gardai take steps to eliminate On-Street Car Parking between Talbot St and Cathal Brugha St for the duration of the diversion.

Now I know the answer is .....NO,but I just want to see if I can stimulate a bit of discussion centreing on why a traffic planning proffessional would see any merit in diverting up to 75% MORE vehicles along a street whilst coincidentally reducing the Diversionary route to a single lane complete with chicane just west of Talbot St Junction.

I now believe it`s some form of Masonic ritual DCC`s "Proffessionals" must endure in order to secure further promotion up the greasy pole of Irish Civic Administration......

In the meantime can I recommend this particular "Diversionary" route for those with digital cameras and a bit of time to waste next Saturday !! :)

Men, it has been well said, think in herds; it will be seen that they go mad in herds, while they only recover their senses slowly, and one by one.
