Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. Dundalk shall open up the new season tonight in front of a full house in Oriel Park. They've had a good pre season and have brought in some decent players in their quest to return to the holy land. The bookies have them as 11/8 favourites and that sounds about right. Harps are missing a few players through suspension and injury tonight so I'll plump for a 2-0 victory to get the ball rolling.

    C'mon the lilywhites!

Going to be a long season I feel for those of us in Longford. But one never knows everyone thinks we are going to go down but if our paper thin squad doesnt get to many injuries I fancy us to be ok.

Good to be back. Shels Lite are favourites to win the league this season, with Drogs their main rivals according to Ladbrokes, which is a fair asserion IMO.

Bohs and Pats could have big seasons, but I suspect neither will. Big questions over Sean Connor, was he a flash in the pan at Sligo. And big questions over Johnny McD, he has made alot of signings, good signings, and really needs to deliver.

If Colin Healy plays like he could pre injury, and Farrelly plays like he did pre Bohs, Cork City will easily have the best midfield in the country when you factor in Colin O brien, Joe Gamble, Admir Softic, Billy Woods and Liam Kearney, there is big competition for 4 places there. Alot of ifs there, so why not have another one. If John O Flynn can get fit and stay fit, and the other ifs come good, City will be unstoppable.

Waterford, Bray and Longford will be the 3 teams to struggle this season.

    As for this weekends fixtures

*these two games are the only difficult ones to call. Sligo and Galway are both muck, so it's a question of who is worse.
Shams will probably do well for a promoted side and UCD will finish mid table so I don't think there'll be much between them all season. Note:For anyone coming to this game STIG will not be available inside the ground so get it before you go in. Also, the builders have left the path beside the athletics track in a state so if you want to keep your shoes clean, use the next path up, through Glenomena Residances.

Well, by the looks of it the beloved Reds have made it to the start of the season.

Who knows how it'll go (Friday night and the season!), but it'll be great to be back in Tolka cheering on some familiar faces and a helluva lot of new ones!!!!

Big expectations from pats this season, though I do hope they fall flat on their faces.

Gary O'Neill is a very dark horse for the golden boot which is really up for grabs after Jayo winning it for the last four years in a row (a league first).

YEEESSSSS! 3-2 Dundalk with a last minute winner! 1-0 down at half time, Harps get a man sent off after 50, 2-1 up after 82, 2-2 after 87 and then that last minute winner. Never a dull moment in Oriel Park.

Williams, Hughes and Flanno with the winner. Unlucky Harps.
    TOP OF THE LEAGUE!

They've definitely gone for the minimalist look there! Whens your site gonna be up and running seansouth? There's definitely a huge void regarding informative Eircom League websites. And don't talk to me about aertels "updates".

Doesn't look too bad IMO. They've hardly got a flood of material to fill it with.
The test will be keeping it fresh and up to date.

    Soon.

We have to get it perfected and co-ordinate the nationwide reporters.

We don't want to launch with a half-baked site, and would rather it late and good than early and crap.

Anyway, it's not only a one season thing, so I doubt if people will remember in four or five years "OMG, that's the site that launched a couple of weeks late".

I thought Bohs were an absolute disgrace tonight. Other than a bit of skill tonight from Fenn, they just hoofed the ball up the field at every chance. Drogs had a couple of flashes of good play, but to be honest, they seemed happy enough to take the point away from home. Ollie Cahill was man of the match, rightfully so, looks like he'll be a very important player for Drogs this season.

Full time at rsc 1-0 blues

Full Deserved and goal was cooling on 67" direct from a corner kick

heard drogs should of had a peno? i didnt see it at all but i wouldnt expect stokes to give us a peno anyway if last season is anything to go by.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,881 ✭✭✭bohsman

Des Byrne made two dodgy tackles in the box but won the ball both times, some refs would have given two penalties.

Great game at Terryland we really came out fighting !
Two well taken goals and some fine performances that will give hope for the coming season , Best chant - "Dundalk , we should be playing Dundalk":)

2-2 draw with a last minute equaliser.

    Great to be back!!!!!

Kildare's goals greeted with almost total silence.

Pats probably play the same 11 that started vs portadown, Mulcahy still out and Arkins on holiday

4 3 3 again so with O Neill playing as the holder upper person Ndo Fahey Kirby doing the running and backing him up, Murphy and Foley getting the ball and giving it to the better players.

Our new signing wont be playing :D

We had a couple of shouts too.
Should have beaten Drogs, who have no excuse to be that poor, especially given the size of their squad. Certainly didn't look like title contenders last night, though I suppose it's early.
I reckon that if Mansaram had started we might have got something.

Disagree completely, Bohs created virtually nothing last night. Like I said earlier, they were just happy to hoof the ball up the field at every chance.

It was pretty awful stuff to watch. Barely a shot on target the whole match. Joxer being made to compete for headers. Glenn Crowe looked lost and their Right-Winger was given all the room in the world whenever he wanted it.

That second equaliser felt better than Crowe's winner against Bohs to win the league last season.

We deserved to win tbh, but a point is certainly more than I thought we'd have at this stage.

Some nice football played. There is hope there. BTW, chant of the night is :

2-1 vs Longford the scoreline flatters them

Should have been 5 by halftime, ripped them apart and im hoping its rustiness that made us miss all those chances. We need mulcahy back to stop teams running tru us.

other than that we going to win the league :D

Heard he was a panic buy as we couldnt sign Murphy from Man City in time, will be gone in the summer and on pay as you play.
