pv700 wont be coming to ireland, offically.. so the komplett one is an import of some sort.. the pz700 wont be around until july at least...

@brian1976 all the new panasonics are coming with pedestals so they shouldnt need the PED after them.

just got a th-42pv70 home tonight with a cabinet and put it through its paces!

first off, stunning picture. picture is as good, if not slightly better, than my previous th-42pv600. handles scrolling text (banner on sky news) much better than any other panasonic i've ever seen. no blocking at all. i used a lidl free-to-air box via ixos gold s-vid cable and pic was great. ntl digital with Ixos gold scart looked good too but the s-vid connection had the edge.

sound is very impressive as well. excellent bass at a low volume.

on dvd, from a pioneer DVR-545 via HDMI @ 1080i with QED gold HDMI cable, image clarity is stunning. watching Pans Labyrinth, a lot of dark scenes and it handled them brilliantly. better blacks than pv600.

bright vibrant scenes (opening scene of casino royale) blew me away.

only draw back, no front inputs. but i have them on my dvd so its not a big deal.

What about reflection, how did you find it or did you have a check on it yet?

So what's the real differences between the LX70 and the LX700?
Having looked through Komplett's details on both I can't see anything major?

I suppose the bottom line is, is it worth €400 more?

Moe: Very useful thread. I assume you work for Alliance Electric? If so, any prices for an appropriate stand? (I wouldn't ever wall-mount a €1100/1400 telly - call me paranoid I guess! :))

the lx700 has better sound, an extra HDMI on the front (for an HD camcorder), SD card slot and an extra scart socket.

you can get a stand for about 250 quid. a glass one with chrome legs. available in loads of places.

Cheers for that. Not worth €400 more then as I'd be connecting it to a 5.1 stereo system anyway.

well for sound no, its not worth it. but i like the SD card slot, and the third HDMI would be handy for the camcorder. if this doesnt bother you then dont go for it. picture-wise, they're both the same.
