My wife is setting up a new business and I want to set up a very basic web site for her(just 1 page for now).
There is a domain name available taht I want to use but dont know if we'll be allowed.
For example if she was a doctor and the domain name doctor.ie was available would she be able to use it?
I have no idea how to go about setting up this web site and would appreciate any help.I'm not going to try and do it myself just want some advice on how to go about it and what I should expect to pay to set it up and run it per year.

Sorry for such a basic question.

    Thanks

.ie and .com domains are regulated very differently. Which one are you after? A .com or .ie?

.coms will cost approx 10euro per year while a .ie can cost up to 50euro per year.

    hi Sparky

Just to add. U need to get a domain registered and also have a web hosting to place the website as well as e-mails. there are plenty of those sellers in ireland and abroad.

domain names are normally paid on yearly basis and hostings are either monthly or annually. some may charge quarterly, etc.

different hosting provider offer different prices, features and support. it's all up to you to choose, quality (reliability and connectivity), quantity (space and bandwidth) and budget.

    so good luck.

    Mart

p/s: i have excess resources on my own linux hosting. if you would like to test drive, pm me.

For a .ie you will need to prove that you are entitled to the domain, especially if it's a generic term such as "doctor", "nurse" or "dentist" etc.,

The best thing to do would be to contact one of the companies that specialise in .ie domains
