Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Dropped Nokia N80 in water

Only got one before Xmas and i recently dropped it in a bucket of water as it fell off a countertop in the kitchen, was in water for less than 2 seconds and I switched it off immediately and left it to dry over night.

Turned it on later and the lights flickered and the Nokia logo came on but it just powered down and will not power on now.

Any chance I could get this fixed as it was expensive and I only just got it, I've never been careless with phones until this one and i'm really peeved over it.

Just wondering if anyone has any info regarding this kind of damage.

    Thanks.

hi, u shud off taken out the battery straight away, and left to air dry.. maybe in a hotpress! i would still recommend leaving the battery out until you get some1 to look at it. If the battery is left in it that means the electric current might fry the board with the water.!
    Regards,
    henne

Took battery out straight away, also removed casing and separated most of the phone using some tools to let the pieces dry - battery works fine.

That link doesnt work anymore, try these:

Sister got her old 3310 wet once, I took out the battery, took the phone appart and dried it with a hairdryer. Assembled it again, and it powered up. The problem was, the antenna was damaged and the phone could not send a signal, so the signal would die after a second and wouldnt work. It could be that just the 900 bit was banjaxed and it may have worked fine in the city, but she just got a new phone.

I'd rather pay 100e than pay for the phone again, cheers for the tips!

if it still doesnt work, take it to a nokia repair place, afaik, it should cost about 100€ around..

Official Nokia repair centres won't repair a water damaged phone.
But some people do repair them, places like on Moore St or George's Street, you know the type. There's no guarantee with these places though, but you haven't much to lose.
