I can't find a link but they have recently started selling a 25cc strimmer for about €100 - does anyone know if Homelite are a good make and servicable?

When on the subject of garden tools, can anyone recommend a good garden vac/blower?

Stay away from lesser/unknown brands when it comes to garden tools and equipment as money saved now will cost you in the long run.

I bought a Ryobi petrol strimmer from B & Q in July 2005 and it dies in August 2006 (one month past its warranty:mad: ). I tried to get it repaired but the repair bill was almost as much as what I paid for the stupid thing. The only advice I kept on getting was "you should have bought a better known brand name".

Spend the extra money on a heavier duty model or better yet, go to a specialised garden equipment retailer and buy from someone who might actually know something about what they're selling.

AFAIK Homelite would be known brand in USA. Think we had one years ago and it was middle of the road. Generally for strimers mowers etc I'd say the Husqvarna are worth the investment.

The Homelite would be only OK - relatively durable. I'd buy it in preference to anything else in the price range but still complete dirt in the greater scheme of things.
It would be better value than a Husqvarna where you pay 20% over the odds for the brand name. Those cheap Husqvarna strimmers are made by Poulan in Canada and badged Husqvarna.
When you are paying 100 euro for an internal combustion engine you can't expect quality.
At this price they are all designed to be thrown away when they break.
They are all half crankcase designs with the starter rope on the cutter shaft side of the engine which makes them a disaster area to dis-assemble when you need to work on them.

    Recommend a good garden vac?
Your lawnmower if it has a fabric bag.
