Anytime I turn on my dishwasher it trips a switch on my mains fuse board knocking out power around the house. anyone know what might be causing this?

    thanks

Quite probably some kind of water leak underneath that's gotten into the electrics I'd guess.

    Plug dishwasher out.
Pull it out onto kitchen floor to access the back.
Take the back off. If you can see water/condensation thats the problem.
    Common enough fault.
Unlikely fault is a loose electrical connection but check anyway.
Dry everything and put it back together, but not before you check all water and exhaust connections to see where problem started.
If water is not evident, get a pro.
If problem persists, get a pro.
It is more likely to be steam escaping somewhere than supply water leaking, as supply water leaking would flood the floor.
    Good luck
