Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Medical Card - Changing Doctors

A friend with a medical card wants to switch doctors as she does'nt like her current doctor. How does one change the doctor that is on their medical card? Medical card holders seem to be registered to a specific doctor, how can this be changed?

As far as I know she can change doctors and get registered with the new one without inhibtion. There might be a bit of paperwork involved.

The best thing for your friend to do would be to check with her local community office of the HSE/health board as was. They issue the cards so they should know the rules about changing.

Also, check that the new doctor is on the scheme and that he/she has room on their list to take on your friend as a new patient. An elderly relative of mine had a similar situation but the doctor that she preferred was not taking on new medical card patients so she stayed put !

Medical cards have an expiry date. just get the new doctor to fill out the form when re-applying for it.
