    Two Tales of WOW !
    Category: Music

Well, I was down at the Rock Night at the Voodoo Lounge tonight, and apart from having a great time, was really blown away by one of the support ac ts - Two Tales of Woe.

I've never seen them live before, and they played a blinding set, including a stomping heavy metal version of Peter Gabriel's "Sledgehammer", managing to turn what was always my least favourite Gabriel song into something really special.

I like many types of music - rock, pop, lyrical and loud, and Two Tales of Woe are solid, wonderful, unreconstructed heavy metal, loud enough and good enough for me to lose myself in the music and fremember just what it is I love about a good thumping rock session.

They are playing Fibber Magees in Dublin on Patrick's night, and I'd highly reccomend the gig if you like this type of music.

One of the other bands playing tonight, The Illusions, mainly playing covers, had a seriously good drummer. He sat in the background and drummed so heavy and hard that at times he seemed to be controlling the whole group with a sort of messianic energy.

    A very worthwhile evening.

    Steve
