Just wondering what peoples opinions of microdermals are. Next big thing in piercing? Have they hit Ireland yet? I think I heard some of the studios were trying em out on buddies. Anyone here got any?

If you dont know what they are heres a lil thing from BME:
    http://www.bmezine.com/news/pubring/20061106.html

I talked to a prominent guy in the business and he personally loves them, not just the aesthetic but the simplicity of insertion. Look of a transdermal without the invasive procedure.

The price of the jewellery is pretty expensive, about $50 i think. Will they just be another fad like flesh stapling or stay for the long haul. Im hopefully gonna get a microdermal or two soon enough.

They seem to be robust enough also. anyone else planing on getting any?

I think now that someone has made decent jewelery they'll be a winner. The only problem with them is they're too simple to insert and difficult to remove which will lead to lots of people getting them then being left with a problem to remove as the removal will be similar to removing a transdermal.

Onto a winner though keep meaning to buy some to try out but am strapped for cash at the mo

i really want to get it done, but im gonna wait till im 18 (not sure if i have a choice about that, but assuming i do, im waiting) for two reasons, i may not want it in a few years (and they sound hard to remove) and after a year or so it will (hopefully) more available/piercers will know what they are doing

sheesh, 100 euro? I thought they'd be a lot more expensive.
But I guess when they rise in popularity, so will the price.

hmm... I'm kinda tempted to get one put in my chest.

Sounds interesting, I'd be interested to hear stories or see photos if anyone here got them done.

I thought 100 euro was steep!

if you cant trust a guy whos held your c0ck and put a bar in it who can ya trust? ;)

yeah €100 seems pretty reasonable since the jewellery is so expensive but they are so small which is the annoying thing. Wonder if they will end up making them in larger sizes? could be feasable.

Yeah since the design of the jewellery allows tissue growth through the little holes theyd be a b!tch to take out

crazy_dude: just ring up and see what the minimum age is for the microdermals, no harm in trying

Apparently they are not that hard to take out..
They come out with minimal scarring too

i emailed, and the person who replied thought i was talking about dermal anchors, so i'm gonna try ringing when i get the chance

Dermal anchor is the same thing as a microdermal afaik.

@Garth: I've heard otherwise that once they're healed fully they need the tissue cut from between the anchor points to get them out, then again you could probably just pull em out with a forceps if you gave it a good tug, hmmm this needs further investigation

only difference between dermal anchor and microdermal is the jewellery design, they are both single point piercings though. if you look at the link i posted it shows pics of them both, slight difference.

I think microdermals done on tattoos can look amazing and really set the whole thing of. im thinking of putting one or two around my sidepiece. so many choices :D
