I've had to take mine out before, because I was working a 4 star restaurant, it was only for a summer, so I got repierced when I was finished.

Looks like I'll have to take out my scaffold soon aswell, as I'm going to be teaching kids english in Dubai. Ah well. I want the job more than I want the scaffold.

My only disadvantage is the ink on both hands, yeah I know... Call me stupid blah blah blah....

I already KNEW that it was gonna affect my chances of getting a job. In the end I want to end up in the Body Mod/Arts industry and I love them so I wouldn't change them for anything.

    Hmmm.

I've kinda run out of ideas for covering them now tho.
Fingerless gloves could be a way to go. I was thinking of wrapping them up and saying I sprained my wrist when I was climbing mt everest for charity or something!!!

But now the two of them are inked.

    Screwed much?
    Yep.

I might have to take my old job back.
I REALLY don't wanna do that tho.

    Oh woe betide me!! :)

Does anyone know how long you can take a tongue piercing out for before it heals up?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 958 ✭✭✭porn_star

everyone's different, some peoples will close up after a couple of hours or less, others might take days/weeks and some people's don't really close up at all. everyone's body is gonna react differently, there is no time limit for stuff like that

Since I was pierced I made a point of wearing my piercings to interviews and assumed that if they disn't allow them at work, I'd be informed of the dress code at the interview when they saw the piercings. Went for an interview with jury's and had 3 0.6mm shiny titanium rings in the my left ear for all to see. Interview didn't even mention them. I got the job arrived for me first day and ****ing manager goes "oh yeah, you'll have to take those out" I nearly ripped my ear off trying to get em out, ended up leaving 2 in and having to get em removed in Snakebite because I wasn't going to try ripping them out every day before work. Should have just quit there and then when she asked me.

Tbh I'd ask to see a copy of their dress code policy and if piercings weren't mentioned in it, chances are they're not, then I'd leave them in and you'd have a valid unfair dismissal claim if they fired you.

I'm the only person at work with a lot of piercings too... we have to get wanded with one of them handheld metal detector things before we leave for security reasons... one of the managers used to sweep it around my head and it would go crazy bleeping.

Yeah it was funny the first few times...
