    Realistically, seeing as only two out of four teams in the group go through, Ireland will have to beat Pakistan to get through. They've (Pakistan) already lost to the Windies so they have no points at the moment.

    If they manage that then 1 point means a lot!

    Just to hammer the point,

    3 ties in World Cup matches.
    22 ties in 2535 one day internationals since 1971.

    Well if we beat Pakistan, then it might.

    Ireland beat Pakistan, lose to Windies.
    Windies beat Zim and Ireland
    Pakistan beat Zim, Lose to Ireland

    Group finishes

    Windes = 6pts
    Ireland = 3pts
    Pakistan = 2pts
    Zim = 1pt

    No offense "Digitally-yours", but imagine if Ireland could pull off a Pakistani collapse...

    I can dream can't I?

    Yes... and Pakistan have been a bit dodgy lately. If you're lucky to catch them on an off day they would be ripe for the picking.

    I was sick today so was at home with the choice of re-runs of comedy programmes or the Ireland match on tv . I went with the cricket and even though I only watched the first innings and missed the exciting climax to the game I found it surprisingly entertaining.............if only it didn't take 11 1/2 hours for a game to be completed(im aware Bermuda v Sri Lanka was much shorter)

    i meant the match itself not the highlights but thats my bad grammer.

    when i iwatched the last world cup which was on in england all the games were on BBC.

    Have Sky bought the rights and its the CWC not one of those listed events where it has to be showed on Terrestial TV.

    Cricket World Cup is on the B list in the UK, where it can be shown as highlights on terrestrial TV.
    Quick potted history of CWC on British TV

    1975-1983 - BBC
    1987- BBC highlights, anecdotal evidence points that the final was live
    1992- Live on Sky only. No highlights, until Prime Minister John Major (Surrey CCC member) stepped in and got highlights of the final on the BBC.
    1996- Sky live and BBC highlights
    1999- Sky and BBC shared live rights, the BBC's last major dose of live cricket.
    2003- Sky only, no terrestrial highlights
    2007- Sky live and BBC highlights

    If you have Sky Digital, but not Sky Sports, you can watch the highlights on BBC 1 at an earlier time of 0020 tonight, go to the Satellite board and check this out, tune into BBC 1 London.

    Another good read. It seems that the Irish and SA team have been trading info. SA have given Ireland info about the Pakistani team and Ireland have given info to SA about the Dutch.

    :D Nothing like a little international collaboration!

    Mickey Arthur(SA coach) - "We have actually dug deep on the Netherlands, and have got a lot of information and video analysis. We managed to trade off with Ireland - they gave us info about the Netherlands, and we gave them info on Pakistan."

    SA have just finished a massive series against Pakistan which they won quite comprehensively so they have a lot of useful info for the Irish lads.

    Sure... it must've been a crap game. It was a tie.

    I really hope this doesn't become the national attitude.

    lol :)

    From BBC Sport's Paresh Soni, Sabina Park: "This is just the most awesome, spine-tingling atmosphere. Whatever the result, this is a great day in Irish cricketing history."

    From BBC Sport's Paresh Soni, Sabina Park: "The leprechauns et al are, not to put too fine a point on it, tanked up but they keep going with some pretty nifty footwork whenever the DJ spins away. This is impressive stuff. I thought the Barmy Army were good - but this lot are world-beaters."
