    The Gov takes in over 7MILLION from shooters each year? I did'nt realize it was that much. Plus the taxes we pay on cartridges etc. We should be treated with a lot more respect. The Gov just sees anyone from the sports shooting fraternity(for want of a better word) as an easy target when votes and good press are needed. We are only allowed to practice our hobby of choice with the uneasy blessing of those in the Dail. Obviously there needs to be a balance struck between people that wish to genuinely enjoy shooting in whatever form(hunting/target) and public safety.

    What about people that collect decommissioned weapons, ie from WW2? If a gun is properly decommissioned then it is as dangerous as an iron bar. People spend thousands collecting such historical weapons, will these now be taken off these people that wish to preserve a piece of history and destroyed?

    As for airsoft, like someone said it is illegal to use these to threathen someone or commit a crime so why not just enforce the law as it stands. Pointing a real looking gun, toy, airsoft or replica, at anyone that is not aware it is not real is just stupid.
