Gardaí in Co Kildare are investigating an armed robbery in Leixlip this morning.

Two men wearing headscarves over their faces and armed with handguns approached a member of staff who was opening up at Confey railway station at 6am.

They made off with a small sum of money. The female worker was uninjured.

Gardaí at Leixlip Garda Station are appealing for anyone with information to contact them on 01- 6667800.

Railway worker held up in Kildare raid

Gardaí are investigating an armed robbery in Leixlip, Co Kildare this morning in which an Irish Rail worker was threatened with a pistol.

Two masked men confronted the rail worker as she opened up at Confey station at around 6.00am.

The raiders made off with an undisclosed sum of money.

The woman was left shocked but unhurt.
