Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

IS it 5Live or 5live extra? And is there anyway of listening to it online? When I connected to5 live extra it said it was only for people in the uk?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,870 ✭✭✭mikeruurds

Poor Pakistan are going to get lynched when they get home in a couple of weeks

If India don't get through to the Super 8s I can see burning effigies in their future. Their fans are pretty militant as cricket is like a religion in the subcontinent.

The covers might be coming off, but has the light improved since they left the middle? The umpires have to consider that fact...

God this is nearly more exciting than the rugby , Ireland to qualify for the quater finals of the World Cup !
Hang your head in shame Steve Stauntan , with the performance of the Irish rugby and cricket teams today, they show up the soccer team as the shambles it is !
Well done Irish rugby and cricket.

    44 needed off 18 overs

    D/L par is 72

we win as long as we stay ahead of the D/L par.

    Back to DL.

If we lose wickets then the DL figure rises. So we need to keep going at 3 an over and not lose any wickets.

    86/4 from 30 overs

    42 from 17 overs required.

Mike is right, the par score will jump if we lose a wicket. If two wickets were to fall right now, and no play occured, par would be 89, and Ireland would be behind. That 4 helps though! SHOT!

    That calmed my nerves,

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,815 ✭✭✭✭galwayrush

if we lost 2 wickets now, par needed is 89, that 4 was magic.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,870 ✭✭✭mikeruurds

The reason that the DL par score rises when wickets fall is to stop the batting side from sacrificing players to dramatically increase the score just prior to a rain/light suspension.

    I hope that makes sense.

The one thing that DL doesn't take account of is the fact that we bowled Pakistan out in less than 50 overs. Perhaps if they ever adopt a new system it'll factor that in too. They've tried to change DL for many years but have never found a suitable replacement.

    Lesson over :D

Stupid bowling a bouncer in dodgy light.

    We're 14-1 on with PP

    make that 50-1 on

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,870 ✭✭✭mikeruurds

Nice to see a short ball backfiring on the bowler!

Justuce would've been a miss by the keeper and 5 wides!

    Nice edge for 4!!!

Pakistani heads are starting to drop in the field.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,726 ✭✭✭✭DMC

Jeez, you'd think the conditions would suit the Pakistan players....

On Paddy Power, Ireland are 14/1 ON

    EDGY 4 there!
