    Tuairisc ón Indo:
CONNEMARA meets Hollywood on TG4 next week as the 'Cold Case' cast go as Gaeilge to interrogate a star of Irish-language soap 'Ros na Run'.

Actor Peadar Cox, who plays businessman Daniel McLoughlin in the Irish language soap, has the hot lamp turned on him in the interview room of the top US drama.

Cox said his character fails to escape questioning after the main characters of the police drama - Detective Lilly Rush (Kathryn Morris) and Lt Tom Stillman (John Finn) - interrogate him in Irish.

The actor said people would have to take a second look after they saw the combined TG4 advertisement for the dramas, which are shown to be on the station.

"I think it is a very clever advert, people will get a kick out of it when they see it," said the actor, who stars in the Irish language soap filmed in Spiddal, Co Galway.

The advert came about due to Paul Holmes, from Irish production company Red Rage, which shot the ad at Warner Bros Studios in Los Angeles. Paul knows Irish-American actor John Finn. Finn and Morris play detectives in the Philadelphia homicide squad investigating old crimes that have never been solved.

"Finn comes over to Ireland every year. He is American born but has Irish roots and a great interest in the language and culture," Cox said.

He explained that the advert, which will be aired on TG4 from Monday next, was based on the interrogation scenes which take place in every episode of 'Cold Case'.

"My character Daniel in 'Ros na Run' is supposed to have killed his wife but was acquitted. The present story in Ros na Run is, his ex-girlfriend Annmarie is missing and it looks like he might be framed for it."

Cox's character in the ad insists he does not understand English as he is being interrogated by the Cold Case cast.

However, he is left astounded after the detectives begin quizzing him in Irish. "John tutored Kathryn Morris in Irish and she is brilliant," he said.

Cox, and the production crew for the advert, travelled over to shoot the advert in the studio where countless classic films, including 'Casablanca' and 'Ben Hur', were produced. "It is a huge place. There are maybe 30 or 40 massive warehouses," he said, adding that there was great history attached to the studios.
