DV Cam Blackscreen

Hi guys,
Not sure is this is the correct forum for this but here goes... a while back I turned on my digital video cam to shoot some video when all I got was a black screen. At first I thought I had left the lens cap on but alas that wasn't the case. Tried taking out the battery, and doing a total reset on the device but to no avail. No matter what I do all I get is a black screen when I turn the device on to capture video.
It's a Canon MV630i and it's a few years old.
Any input would be appreciated.

I had a read of the first few results... sounds similar enough.
Hopefully it's this 'known issue' and you can get it repaired by Cannon.
Definitely worth checking out I think.
