Alot of activity in the Northern half of the Island now. NI is going to be snowed in at this rate!

What area are you in Darkman?

Is there general agreement that this is the best chance of the Winter so far that we in Dublin will see some lying snow? I hope so.. It's well overdue!! :D

Possible though we dont know yet whether those showers up north have the legs to get. They may or they may not.

    Im near Portmarnock

Current radar of NI is impressive, truely massive beefy showers there. Hope they start to move south!

Temp rose here too, was -0.1°C and went up to 0.4°C , is currently 0.3°C and snowing, is settling on the grass/roof/cars but not on concrete yet.

Not sure why its rising, hope its a trend that ends!

    Sticking?

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,329 ✭✭✭arctictree

Yeah - just saw it - seems to be in Longford/Westmeath at 8pm.
If it doesn't fizzle out, we'll be in business. Roll on the 8:30.

pp_me129 - there seems to be another band hitting west Waterford. Its early in the night - anything can happen....

yes it's sticking now for the first time today.
Just on the top of the car and bonnet mind.
    It's swirling round the yard.
    Temp is dropping.

Some totally monster echos on the radar, haven't seen showers of that size ever on the radar to be honest and they are heading south, reckon you'll have your turn tonight for sure :)

    Keep checking the window !!

Yep almost anywhere tonight could see a covering of snow..

the 830 radar shows a shower that could hit here if it takes abit of a southerly jog ;)

Ok I was away in Scotland for the weekend saw some amazing snow showers last night, just home from the airport about 2cms had fallen near kilcullen, everywhere was white trees were covered, speed signs hidden then 2 miles down the road nothing and didn't see any more since then.

So I'm back in Carlow now and haven't had a minute to read through the threads can someone give me a ten line update?

Think we will see this down the Limerick/Tipp area?

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,743 ✭✭✭kleefarr

    Kilkenny City outskirts (East)

    Just had a look outside..

The sky is the clearest I have seen it all day. Temps seem to have risen slightly. :(

This is what we would see all day a couple of months ago, most of the snow today in the east and south east was purely due to the power of the sun.

That said we have very heavy showers to the north that might beef up the red zone soon.

Is that good for South Dublin?

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,736 ✭✭✭ch750536

What direction does the wind be blowing near you...
It is currently blowing from west to east (generally) at the moment.
There is a big blue patch where i can see some magnificent cb clouds in the distance, although there is a very dark cloud starting to arrive..

Edit: Very very heavy shower of hail here now.
I expect thunder at this rate...

Very consistent blowing from wnw, hardly changed direction all day. Clear skies now though.

Maybe, looks like it might track south of you though.
