Some good moves by the stuff to the west of Scotland a few features in there...

The clump on the far west of the mass looks interesing but i think the whole area has a circulation..

    V Interesting

Im not too confident for tonight really. The shower decay will be kicking in soon and as the winds go NNW then its really difficult to get showers this far south. However for other areas it looks like a white out tonight especially in the north and west.

Yep, was thinking the same, however we do have a supply of beefy showers to the north looking at that sat shot WC posted, and the strong winds will hasten their southern passage.

That said wouldn't be surprised if most places in Dublin and Wicklow only see a few light flurries, which may be enough to give a cm or so which will last till 20 past sunrise tomorrow morning!! Can't complain, its all a bonus, I bet a trip to Sally Gap will be pretty good tomorrow.

Temp fell to 2.8C about 10 minutes ago before the shower stopped the sun has stayed in and the temp has stood at 2.9C with a dewpoint of 0.5C and falling again

Some heavy hail/sleet showers falling down here.. A bit of rain it too so it is very borderline... Temp is dropping in showers but rising again when the sun is out.
I doubt if will truly snow on lower levels (i expect mnts to get a nice covering), but to day has been the most wintry day for a long while

I think we will struggle to see showers this far south and east. Thats not too say it wont happen. Anything is possible but this is just a typical northerly at this time of year and it can be very frustrating watching even the biggest showers just disappear around Cavan and Monaghan.

Met eireann have started ramping tonight's snow up:
    http://www.met.ie/default.asp
They mention a severe weather alert with accumulations and "drifting possible".
    :D:D

Interestingly, the temperature is falling a little more in every shower, its 1.1°C now as this shower is tapering off, last one got down to 1.6°C but didnt rise back over 2.4°C afterwards, interesting trend, hope it keeps up after darkness (and the showers of course!!)

    Warning from Met Eireann:

Some drifting is possible, especially in northern parts, and over high ground. Widespread frost also, with the danger of icy roads. Strong to gale force west to northwest winds, with some severe gusts. Lowest temperatures of minus 1 C to 2 C.

Yes I have this one as well. Though mainly sleet.

Temp has fallen from 4.5C to 3.5C during this shower. As with Longfield a few miles west, the temp is lower with each shower, just 3C higher than with Longfield and Arctic!

I've been watching a train of Cb moving to the north of me and thought you would be getting it from that, moved temporarily over me and gave white out conditions for a few mins.

Looking good for tonight if this keeps up :)

Bloody hell, am I living in another country or something? The most we've had here in Carlow town is a few short sharp showers of light hail or rain!

Okay we have "proper" snow at last in Dundalk...starting to lie on cars and roofs (not on wet ground yet), swirling in strong down drafts, very heavy big fluffy snowflakes. If this were to fall during the night we'd have a good few inches by morning.

Stopped snowing and now it's blue sky, weather is all over the place today.
