CWC Day 9 - Bangladesh V Sri Lanka, Pakistan V Zimbabwe

A MASSIVE day for Ireland here. Any sort of win for Pakistan (or a tie) will put us through to the Super 8's. A win for Zimbabwe and things could come down to net run rate.
In the other group its another huge game with Bangladesh looking to qualify for the super 8's along with Sri Lanka. There is every chance that this group could come down to NRR. So will be interesting to see how things fair out.

I think Pakistan will dedicate the match to Bob Woolmer and win. Isnt Afridi available for this game?

    Thoughts?

    Updates here tomorrow

    Afridi should be, yes.

I am not calling the Pak - Zim game. No way.

Paddy Power, on the other hand, Pakistan 6/1 on.... Zimbabwe 7/2

And I won't call the Bang - SL game either

Bang 9/2, SL, 8/1 on. Bangladesh are longer odds than Zimbabwe. Wow.

I haven't been wrong yet ;) Sure. I would love it if Bangladesh would take Sri Lanka. It's possible but not very probable. I'm really hoping that Pakistan can get into the right frame of mind for today's game and dispatch Zim back to Harare.

I'm very worried about the mental state of the Pakistan players for this game following the revelations that Bob Woolmers death is being treated as suspicious. I now feel Zimbabwe will win it.

    eeeeeek

If Pakistean show up I'm sure they'll win. They are professionals after all and they've had their one upset loss for the tournamnent.

This will be my mantra for the rest of the day :) Maybe if I say it enough times it'll be true :D

Hopefully, although Im not so sure. Zim are still 7/2 with Paddypower. Might stick a few quid on them...

    News from Jamacia

9.05am Zimbabwe have won the toss and stuck Pakistan in to bat.

One change in the Zimbabwe side, Gary Brent in for Anthony Ireland, while Pakistan leave out Azhar Mahmood and Mohammad Hafeez and in their place they have brought in Danish Kaneria and Shahid Afridi. This will be Afridi's first match since he completed his four-match ban.

Kaneria and Afridi in the team is the kiss of death for Zim... my opinion.

    Great updates!

If Zimbabwe win, could someone please explain the net run rate and how it is calculated. Is it runs per ball?

Inzi is playing like a man possessed.

Somehow I don't think that this will come down to net run rate.

Looks like the hamstring went twang on the first run after being laid up for 30 minutes of rain.

    6 in this... 174/1 off 31.
I'm not watching the Pak -Zim game out of fear... Every time I watch it a wicket falls!

I suppose in the light of what's going on outside of the game it was a poorly chosen phrase

I tend to get too engrossed in the game to consider that my words might be misinterpreted.

I meant it totally innocently of course.
