Beef tagine with prunes for me tonight, it was all lovely and smokey after being cooked up on an open fire caveman styleez! Oh yes!

Pasta with some sauce i'd made a few weeks ago and frozen in batches, only problem was i made 4 tomato sauces and only marked 2 batches so the other two are roulette, one's a smoked bacon and redwine sauce and the other is puttanesca.

Was hoping for the bacon, got the puttanesca but i wasnt mad, it was yummy anyway, a rare (almost) veggie day for Seán land (if you discount the anchovies in the sauce).

welll... penne and cheese really. pretty good, missing somethinnng though
[for the sauce i used grated cheddar, milk, butter, flour black pepper and paprika.

add some mustard and might need some salt too (depending on how much cheese you use).

Got a bit of inspiration for dinner tonight off Apache Pizza and their taco pizza. so made my own taco pizza and it was delicous!! saved some for tomorrow too! All ill have to do is make the pizza dough!

made a chili very similar to the cooking club recipe from sparks and we've been eating that for days, but got a craving at 6.30pm for ham and cheese hot crossaints, and we were in the supermarket 15 minutes later...

made what i'd usually call veggie chilli, but was out of chillis so i dont know what i'd call it!

veg stock, tinned tomatoes, mushrooms, broccoli, carrots, onion, kidney beans, butter beans, chick peas, lentils, garlic, cumin, lemon juice, little madras powder and spoonful of red curry paste, all in a big saucepan for about an hour. so hearty.

I had what was one of the best meals of my life last Friday with some friends. We ate in Mund'Art Restaurant in Bern.

It kicked off with an amuse bouche of ox bone with salted marrow & toast.

I then had two 'taster' starters:
Veal tartare with a lemon vinaigrette & rocket salad.
Scallops with a lentil salad & apricots.
(We had a dry Riesling with the above.)

For mains I had fillet of cerdo negro pork (the same pig that is used to make Iberico ham) with roasted new potatoes & a red win gravy. This was unbelievable! It tasted nothing like any pork I have ever had before. It was so tender that the flesh was tearing when I was cutting it.
(We had a Gevrey-Chambertin with deep mocha tones. Jaysus - I'm going all fancy now )

Dessert was a mango & chilli parfait with a lime-gin muffin.

Espressos & grappas to finish.

It really was spectacular.
