Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Okay, I know a lot of people get stuck in a routine of eating the same dinners every week so hopefully this thread will give us all some useful ideas or something to laugh at.

If you see something you'd like to try ask the poster to post a recipe in another thread :)

    Last night I had:

Stir-fried honeyed chicken breast with stir-fry vegetables, mango and boiled rice

    Really tasty!

*The night before, I had curried omlette with peppers, garden peas spring onion, tumeric, ginger and a dash of soy sauce. Tasted great, I swear!

    Hmmmm curry

    Last night was zwiebelrostbraten.

Fry off onions and lardons, add cayenne pepper and paprika and cook them off and then added potatos (that had been cooked in their jackets, cooled and sliced) - fry till browned and add parsley.

Tonight is chicken marinaded in garlic, lemon and rosemary and black pepper. I got a brilliant new griddle pan - one of the really heavy ones. Cant wait to get home to use it!

Lamb rack (done rare) smothered in homemade harissa paste. Couscous with red onion and chopped coriander. Sierra Cantabria Cuvee Especial Rioja 2004. Outrageously good.

    SLOW COOKER CHAR SIU PORK

4 tablespoons of light soy sauce
    4 tablespoons of hoisin sauce
    3 tablespoons ketchup
    3 tablespoons honey
    2 teaspoons minced garlic
2 teaspoons grated peeled fresh ginger
    1 teaspoon dark sesame oil
    1/2 teaspoon five-spice powder
Around 2 or 3 pounds of loin of pork, rind off
A quarter pint of chicken stock

    Directions
Combine first 8 ingredients in a small bowl, stirring well with a whisk. Place in a large zip-top plastic bag.
Add pork to bag; seal. Marinate in refrigerator at least 2 hours, but preferably overnight.Turn occasionally.
Place pork and marinade in an electric slow cooker. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours (or up to 10 hours).
Remove pork from slow cooker using a slotted spoon; place on a cutting board or work surface. Cover with aluminum foil; keep warm.

Add chicken stock to sauce in slow cooker. Cover and cook on low for 30 minutes or until sauce thickens. Shred pork with 2 forks; serve with sauce.
Makes 8 servings of pork with sauce.

    * I didn't fancy using the liquid in the slow cooker to make the sauce so I made up a fresh batch of the marinade, added the stock and simmered for around 20 minutes.

I was lucky enough to be taken to Eden last night, where I had smokies to start (smoked haddock flaked and cooked with creme fraische, cherry tomatoes and scallions, topped with cheddar) followed by fillet steak with Bearnaise sauce, crispy green beans, a whole roasted red onion and shoestring fries. This was followed by a (very disappointing) selection of house ice creams, and washed down with a delicious French red. Yum.

Last night we had a roasted corn fed chicken, it was really juicy and delicious.

Tonight was (surprise, surprise) pancakes! Made one with a fried egg in the middle, ham and cheese, various sweet combinations.

Goat's cheese proved a popular filling.

Seared tuna steak and tomato, olive and feta basil salad with rocket. Its my favourite leaf. Dressed with a chilli oil and pumpkin seeds thrown over. Might leave the pumpkin seeds out next time.

Has anyone any suggestions for cruton supplements? I roasted the pumpkin seeds but they didnt cut it. Maybe pine nuts next time.
