Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Vista 5 CDs to one DVD

I have 5 CD ISO's of Windows Vista, is there any way I can burn these onto one DVD?

Is there any formatting requirements on the DVD that I need to be aware of, or does the CD format match the DVD format or is there any check that the CD version does (i.e. 1/4 way through the DVD isn't going to ask 'Please insert disc 2 of 5')

I've a MSDNAA Vista license (Business), so nothing shady going on :p

Do they not provide a DVD ISO for download? I didn't think Vista was even available on CD at all.

Well our bandwith cap for the house is a bit iffy at the moment, so I'd prefer if I didn't have to download 2.5 gigs of data :)

I didn't think Vista was available on CD's either but thats what i'm looking at!

It is probably feasible if the folder structure is no different from the DVD version.

Though making the disc boot-able is another matter I would imagine to goes much the same way as if you were slipstreaming SP2 into the XP CD and making it boot-able.

I have not see any guides yet though and well it may be more prudent to wait until next month when your not so near the cap to download the DVD ISO.

CD1 was the general structure of the CD/DVD while CD's 2 - 5 were made up of install1-5.swm files (That go into the sources folder)

The directory structure goes as follows

    -boot
    -efi
    -sources
    -support
    -upgrade
    autorun.inf
    bootmgr
    setup.exe

Can anybody check in their sources folder that it goes install1-5.swm (with 1-5 obviously being different files) or is there one big install.swm file?

    Attached is a screenshot

The source folder on my DVD has a 2.24gb file called INSTALL.WIM. It seems these files are image files and can be split into smaller files with a .wim extention using the imagex.exe tool located in the same folder.
I'm not sure if the small files can be converted back into 1 big image file but it's worth looking into...

Okay, I've looked everywhere in the folder but there doesn't seem to be a imagex.exe anywhere.

From Googling, its a tool used to manage Windows images.

The 5 swm files (A split up wim file becomes swm files, as mentioned above) are 2.24 GB

If all this dosent work, I'm gonna buy some CD's tomorrow :)
