I seen this today... it fires at under one joule so does it actually fall under the law classification as not a firearm or does the fact that it uses a gun powder cartridge negate that?

    The site is here http://www.swissminigun.com/

At about 4000 euro so it's an expensive toy really.

Crikey I wonder if the site got the price wrong.
How could they justify 4000 Euro!!!!!

An alternative is the revolver I posted about the other
day thats only 64 Euro. It fires blanks/flares

From Section One of the Firearms Act:
    “firearm” means—
    ...
    (b) an air gun (including an air rifle and air pistol) with a muzzle energy greater than one joule or any other weapon incorporating a barrel from which any projectile can be discharged with such a muzzle energy,
So if it is under one joule, it's not a firearm.

Mind you, what if you reloaded it with more powerful rounds?

    Hi Sparks,

after looking at the website it seems to take 2.34mm ammo. The producer says it has been specially produced for this revolver and is the smallest rimfire ammo around. That seems to exclude more powerful rounds...for the moment at least.

    Sparks,
perhaps you could give us all an insight,
into the step by step process,
of how you would go about reloading these rounds?

How many more grains of powder,
would you have to add to bring these over the one joule limit?

How many grains of powder do the supplied rounds contain?

Could you outline the ammunition reloading process,
for any members of the forum, that might hope to venture into reloading at a future date, and might benefit from your expertise.

    Dvs.

Interesting. When they first brought out this model it was generating 1.3 Joules. Must have changed it to suit local laws. There is your extra pinch of powder sparks.

No idea of the ins and outs but if you were of a more knowlegable kind. Perhaps reload it with something with more "ooomph".
