Using WEP and WPA with the Netopia 3347WG router

    I have a Netopia 3347WG router. I've noticed that it is possible to create more than 1 SSID on the router. My questions are:

    1. Is it common practice to have more than one SSID working at one time- will it work (I assume it will since I can create more than one)
    2. Can I have one channel with WPA encryption and another with WEP encryption

    I'm asking as I have a couple of wireless devices but one has only WPA and the other uses WEP (both can work without any encryption but I would prefer to have something enabled).

    Fon do something similar to what you want with a linksys router running openwrt. (google Virtual BSSID)

    Nettopia i'm afraid will not work.

    Thanks for the response Nutjob, but I'm still wondering why the Netopia will allow more than one SSID to be configured...
