Would you recommend buying a tv online?I fear that if the tv breaks it would be alot of hassle bringing it back to the company

I posted in one of the HE sections today about this, i bought a 19 inch samsung lcd off a german site hoh.de and it developed a flickering problem after a few months. So I rang samsung the other today and there getting a courier to collect my faulty tv and the courier is going to give me a new one. So if samsungs customer service is always like that, then i wouldnt have second thoughts about ordering one of their tv's online I actually have a 32inch samsung on its way atm that i ordered before i rang samsung about the other tv. And i was kinda worried about getting a faulty tv and having to pay loads to send it back to germany. But after the great customer service im getting for the 19inch i have no worries at all.

That's very reassuring seeing as I ordered a Samsung 26" today from Komplett!

Well mine came to €560 with Komplett, so it's not costing a fortune either.

This may be a stupid question, but I thought I would ask...Is there anything you need to look out for when buying a TV from Germany?

Will they work fine over here?

    Thanks,

    Pyat

if you want to use the tuner then make sure the tv you're buying has a PAL-I compatible tuner. if its just sky/dvds then you dont need a tuner.

Anyone know if you buy a TV from Germany that the manuals are in English?
And how long does it take to get a 42" plasma delivered from Technikdirekt.de?

Ive decided to take the plunge and get a Panny pv71 from Germany, just need to hear that the manuals are in English :D

just thinking of doing the same myself, the manual & tv service menu being in english being the only remaining questions before taking the plunge.

i've already asked Tech Direct about delivery tiems, so shoudl hear back from them Monday.

    will let you know.

Thanks Brian, I've read about for long enough. I was going to buy the pv60 range until I heard these were coming out. I was going to buy it from Komplett until I seen they charge 150 euro delivery  which brought the total cost to 1650. There's a saving of over 100 euro from Germany which bought me my up scaling DVD. :D

yeah, daving of ~€180 from germany.

also, Tech Diect offer free pick-up if tv faulty on delivery, komplett expect you to pay to return back to their depot...

tech direkt definitely better Terms and conditions.

Well I ordered it today (as you know):D and yes I do think technik has better T&C than Komplett. I was initially worried about the TV being unnoticeably damaged in transit but when I thought about it I realised that they all, whether you buy it from Curry's or Germany come into the country the same way (back of a truck). So i'm looking forward to setting it up and plugging it in an enjoying :D

What is the refresh / response rate like on it?
    - For watching movies?
    - For watching sports (Footy)?
    - For playing Xbox 360?

Do you get any unwanted 'halo' / 'afterglow' effects when there is a lot of movement?

    How about:
    - For watching TV from Analogue Aerial (PAL-I)?
    - For watching TV from Digital Source (Sky)?

Havent noticed any ghosting with the 360 or from watching football matches ( but at the same time havent went up real close looking for it yet ).

The 360 looks great on it and so do xvids ( have pc connected to it ), have my dreambox sat receiver connected to it but that shows you how low bitrate some channels are! Art sports is shocking but i new that already from watching it on a new tv. But the bbc's and rte etc look fine through it. Dont have an aerial connection connected to it yet. Im delighted with it tbh.

And ps3 looks great on it too through hdmi, motorstorm and casino royale both looked well on it.

Feel bad asking this but how did you order off the Topvision site.

I had planned on getting the TV you mentioned here

    Samsung LE32S71B LCD-TV
    Bestellnummer : 2100840184
    Preis : 619.00€

But I can't seem to A: Find the buy button or B: Make contact with anyone from the site. (I cant speak/read german)

Ive sent an email to sales@topvision.lu but I havent received any reply.
Ive also tried calling these numbers but again with no luck.

    01149 651-462 9899

    01149 651-493 6250-2

I got this information from the "impressum" page
    http://www.topvision-online.de/page.html?page=Page::Contacts&

    Appreciate any help

There customer service is crap (well for english speakers anyways). Someone posted somewhere else about them lately in another thread around here somewhere or bargain alerts. Pick Ireland in the country drop down menu, last time i looked it said short delivery time, so not in stock and probably cant buy it atm ( cant check site myself at work).

The fact that it's cheap on their site and samsung customer service is great plus a few ppl here on boards have bought from them are all positives. But if you have to contact them or sort something out with them for whatever reason, then you will have problems it seems.
