Most would start off with a warning, then if the poster persists, a ban.

and when i complained i got told to shut up by a cmod.

i dont really care about being called an idiot but i think that if its ok for someone to say it to me then it shoud be ok for me to say it .

Xebec is right, you only just reported that post. It's early on Saturday morning not all mods are on line yet. Those that keep late hours may not even check in before lunch.

Mods are not bots we sleep and live too. Some appear earlier than other because of time-zone differences. For the same reason some will appear later.

Relax, the mods will take care of it as soon as it comes to their notice if they think it's serious enough.

either way, the feedback forum is the place for complaints, and if you feel that my answer is not satisfactory enough, you should post there and continue your crusade. i willl of course cut and paste this post and put it there, just so you can have the same answer to the same question in 3 different ways.

Yep, I've got to admit that I looked at the reported post and thought to myself that you weren't directly targeted. Now if that poster had said "Oi, green123, you're an idiot and a sap" then that's a direct attack on you.

To be honest, in my view only, something as mild as that would merit a warning at most. Had he called you a "pathetic little pr*ck who w*nks while he molests chickens by night" that would deserve a hearty chuckle...followed by a ban. That's just how I would react

People here are always sayinng things such as "The Government are saps", I don't think Bertie Ahern cries himself to sleep over it or feels directly targeted

No, you should be saying that if you call someone in the motors forum an idiot you should not get a ban (although I'm one for thinking it's all about context).

You weren't directly referred to as an idiot, I think you're moaning about nothing here to b truthful.

All forums are moderated differently and have different rules. Even within individual fora, what one forum mods see as bannable another forum mod might think merits only a warning.

i would say report a post if you stongly about it and leave it up to the gods to decide what happens. Getting worked up about it or feeling things aren't fair might just result in the bolt of lightning striking you (trolling rules etc).
