I don't know how it works here with the test centers, but seeing as there is a huge backlog, would it be possible for branches of the AA* to carry out driving tests?

The government did put out a tender to supply driving testing services which was won by SGS (the NCTS crowd).
Im sure if the AA wanted to they would have lobbed in a proposal.

I've heard that the government are looking for more companies to outsource to. There was one crowd mentioned as a likely candidate but I can't remember the name of them. The crowd who run the Provisional Ignition test for Hibernian would be good imo.

The current contract is for something like 40,000 tests, the next one is for something like 100,000 tests.

Hibernian seem to have a driving school these days, saw their cars around Malahard.

They're probably for their Ignition programme.
